Confirmed chartered 12/14/1814. Editor: Often confused with "Hiram Lodge No. 59" in Westmoreland in Grand Lodge records. Assigned to District 17 in 1820. 1814 Proceedings: A dispensation, signed by the Grand Master, and dated June 4, 1814, having been issued, to authorize the opening of a Lodge in Clarkesburg, Harrison county, by the name of the Hermon Lodge, appointing Isaac Coplin, Master; George J. Davidson, Senior Warden; and Joshua B. Badger, Junior Warden; and the said dispensation being returned, with the other necessary documents, and a petition for a charter: on motion, Resolved, That a charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge, by the name of the Hermon Lodge, No. 98, appointing the same persons officers thereof who are named in the said dispensation. 1830 Proceedings: Listed as dormant. 1847 Proceedings: Whereas a dispensation was issued for the revival of "Hermon Lodge, No. 98", appointing Wor. Charles Lewis, Master, James McCally, Sr. Warden, and James Reed, Jr. Warden; and said dispensation being returned, together with the necessary documents, Resolved, That a charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge, by the name, title and designation aforesaid, appointing the officers named, upon the payment of twenty dollars in full of all arrearages, including the Grand Secretary's fee.
