Confirmed chartered 11/27/1794. 1794 Proceedings: By the Grand Master’s order a Dispensation was this day issued to Philip Rootes Thompson, Burkett Davenport, Philip Lightfoot and others, of the town of Fairfax, in the county of Culpeper, to hold a Lodge in the said town of Fairfax, by the name of the Fairfax Lodge, No. 43, agreeably to the constitution of the Grand Lodge of Virginia. In obedience to the order of the Grand Lodge, bearing date the 27th Nov’r, 1794, a Charter has this day issued to Phillip Rootes Thompson, Master; Birkit Davenport, Senior Warden, and Philip Lightfoot, Junior Warden, to establish a new and regular Lodge in the county of Culpeper, in the town of Fairfax, designated and known by the name of the Fairfax Lodge, No. 43; also, a certificate from the Most Worshipful Grand Master, impowering the Worshipful Brothers, Bud Haywood, John Ilackley and Nimrod Long, or any two of them, to install the said brethren in their different offices agreeably to ancient custom.
