Confirmed chartered on 12/15/1852 in District 25.
Whereas, a Dispensation was issued by the M. Wor. Grand Master, to authorise the opening a Lodge at Fayetteville, in the county of Fayette, by the name of Lodge, No. ---, appointing Wor. E. B. Bailey, Master; J. A. Veasey, Senior Warden, and J. W. Pryor, Junior Warden.
Resolved, That a Charter do issue for the permanent establishment of said Lodge by the name, title and designation of Acacia Lodge, No. 84, and appointing the officers named: Upon return of Dispensation and a copy of the proceedings thereunder if approved.
1854 Proceedings: Your resolution of the last Grand Communication, authorised the issue of a charter for Lodge No. 84, at Fayetteville in Fayette county, which had been working under dispensation, "upon the return of the dispensation and the proceedings under it if approved." These were after some delay forwarded, and while the proceedings gave evidence of great Masonic zeal and promise of usefulness, they displayed so many irregularities and departures from Masonic Law, that while I was satisfied that these proceeded from inadvertence and a want of familiar acquaintance with the laws and usages of Masonry, I could not approve them, and as the issue of the charter was made dependent on an approval of the proceedings, I was reluctantly compelled to withhold it. Editor: Lodge considered inactive in 1854, and a new Acacia Lodge No. 84, in Newsoms, Southampton County, was chartered the same year.
